Bluesy Walt Disney Concert Hall I, LA

On my 60th birthday, I went on a 4 day road trip to LA, a pilgrimage to see the 4 month Ansel Adams exhibit at the Getty. I was fortunate enough to go there both on the day before my birthday (with a photographer acquaintance) and then on my birthday, the second time alone. A couple of days later, without any plans or destinations in mind, I explored Downtown LA and took photos of some awesome buildings, including Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, which I had not seen before.

I fell in love with its voluptuous minimalism. I spent about 45 minutes just walking, gawking, and photographing.

Four years later, I went back and took more photos of this architectural jewel, then while processing the files, I played around with the colors. This rolling, blue monochrome photo highlights how each section of the Concert Hall reflects the sky’s colors and how the sections also play with shadow and light.

Available in 2 limited editions:

* Five high quality 20” x 30” signed and numbered prints on acrylic “‘floated’ off the wall by a recessed backframe.”

* Five high quality 12” x 18” signed and numbered prints on Hahnemuhle archival paper.
